Mountain ranges roll in waves
like inland seas and emerald green valleys with miniature
villages spread out below. Cool breezes waft crisp mountain air
and mists drift among the lower porticos. Architectural angles
and curves draw the eye and exquisite details are routine.
“Life without Limitations” is man’s architectural extension of
Mother Nature’s most wonderful design. Precisely crafted
Appalachian stone and native cedar combine and are molded into
welcoming spaces. Secluded nooks and private suites flow into
entertaining areas with grand vistas and luxurious appointments.
This Little Switzerland location
was too special to build the ordinary.
HERE, LIFE HAS NO LIMITATIONS.

Full Description
Arrive between native
stone pillars and enter landscaped grounds, where
wildflowers nod to the breeze from flowerbeds and rock
gardens are placed strategically on gentle slopes. Soft
sod-entwined pavers provide a secure space for guest’s cars
in front of a stone entrance, which leads past soaring
geometric arches to a covered portico and a custom Brazilian
mahogany door, flanked by custom designed and handmade gas
lighting.
You enter...
The door opens to soft light that glows from a unique
Italian glass chandelier which hangs from the elevated entry
ceiling. As you cross the entry’s massive flagstone floor
you are swept across the room and away by the seemingly
endless mountain vistas seen through the room’s far wall,
which is made mostly of glass. Between the entry and the vista
are inviting expanses of polished cherry flooring, soaring
cathedral ceilings and a spacious dining area.
Immediately to the left of the formal dining area a
gourmet’s delight awaits in a thoroughly modern kitchen. A
Wolf gas range with accompanying electric grill fits beneath
a massive hood. Warming, convection/conventional and
convection/microwave ovens are to the left; a hidden cherry
paneled refrigerator/freezer is found to the right.
A custom island with whisper-quiet dishwasher, thermal
dividing storage drawers and Sub-Zero ice machine takes
kitchen center stage. Crowned with a polished Bordeaux
Granite surface, it matches the round pedestal table over
the custom curved seating of the kitchen’s breakfast area.
The living space to the right of the entry is both grand and
cozy with a huge stone fireplace flanked by custom cherry
shelves with gallery lighting in select spaces to display
your treasures. Stone columns rise to the ceiling and carry
the eye toward a unique bar to the room’s right. The bar,
complete with a marble countertop, inlaid by Mother Nature
with prehistoric fossils, is illuminated by a very special
custom designed window.
A hall, rich with soft wood hues, leads to the right. Here
the master suite features a masculine granite and
bronze-fitted bath for him, and a luxury spa bath for her
complete with whirlpool, walk-in tile shower, dressing area,
and a spectacular mountain view from the tub. Huge closets,
luxury architectural elements, and a private screened porch
with almost unlimited mountain and valley views complete the
space.
Across the hall is a spacious office/library with cherry
cabinetry, lighted display shelves, hidden filing cabinets
and large bright windows, making this a truly inviting work
space. The private prayer or meditation room which adjoins
the office is a wonderful retreat for contemplation during a
busy day.
Further down is the entry hall to the special children’s
wing. To the left, the entry hall leads to a playground that
can be accessed by a flight of stairs, or by simply sliding
down the curved slide to a child’s wonderland of recreation
equipment. On the right, bookshelves line both walls leading
through two sets of rooms joined by wonderfully decorated
bathrooms. At the end of the hall is a private screened
porch surrounded by gardens, looking across to the tree
house at the edge of the woods.
A matching wing on the opposite side of the home’s central
entertaining space houses a spacious guest suite, smaller
private office or hobby room, laundry and utility room,
sunny plant room/entry hall, storage rooms and a huge double
attached garage.
Back in the central entertaining area, a door leads to a
huge sheltered screened porch with a massive stone fireplace
and room to play or dine. Off to the right a deck with
semicircular stone balcony and a curving stair leads to the
lower level accommodations or to the rear lawns. Here the
grounds fall away steeply from the spacious grounds at the
back of the home, and wildflowers cascade like falling water
toward the deep valley below.
The lower level accommodations may be entered through a
series of stone arches and covered courtyards, which give a
European style to this level of the home. Here is another
private guest suite, an exercise room, living room and huge
playroom, or perhaps billiard room, adding yet another
dimension to this multifaceted home. From the lower living
room space, a staircase leads upward to a unique entry on
the upper main floor. The stairway curves and enters the
great room from beside and behind the room’s “one of a kind”
bar.
Modern and rustic, elegant
and massive,
formal and playful.
Description is impossible, the ambiance can
only be experienced.
PEACE OF THE ROCK defies superlatives!
